Wave 24 and Wave 36 Bio Reactor Settlement Vortex Filter

The Wave 24 and the Wave 36 Bio Reactors vortex bottom design aids in pre-filtering or mechanically trapping waste from the ponds bottom drain prior to the water up flowing into a fluid bed of media in a highly oxygen environment to complete the biological filtering. The simple maintenance required is performed by simply opening the bottom gate valve for seconds to purge the settled waste.

A window was installed into the side of a Wave 36 Bio Reactor to show the action and flow of the bio media.

Notice the active beneficial bacteria in the media. It is the darker areas growing on the inside. This filter is supporting a large fish load.

The Bioreactor can be gravity fed from the pond or pump fed. The flow enters from the lower port and starts to spin permitting the fish waste, dirt and other crud to settle to the bottom because of its weight.

Then the cleaner water rises through the riser plate that has air stones mounted to it. The aeration creates a current that keeps rising and needing to be replaced in a circular motion. The floating media is in a constant state of moving up, down and around. As the water passes through the media, it is biologically filtering out the ammonia and nitrites.

Then the water flows out the outlet near the top. More then one outlet is provided on the Bioreactor's to benefit increased flow rates if needed. The media remains inside due to the screened outlet pipe.

Maintenance is performed by opening the lower knife valve for a few seconds then closing it. This purges out the waste that has settled to the bottom.
